Sticky caliper hanger

One of my caliper hangers gets progressively tighter and finally jams as I install it over the slide pins. The pins don’t look bent, do I need to somehow clean out the receiving hole on the hanger.

Probably yes. When I was a tech my technique was that any time I had one of those sleaves exposed I pulled it out, slathered it w/ some grease and pushed it back in. You should be able to push it in by hand far enough that you are squishing the rubber boot a little. There may be some debris in there or it could just have a glob of grease that is essentially hydraulic locking it.

Thanks. In retrospect, I guess it was kind of a dumb question.

Well, as it turns out, the question wasn’t so dumb after all. There was enough play in the slide pin mounting holes to cause jamming. I loosened them, slid the mount all the way on, then retightened them while they were properly aligned. Everything’s happy now.
