Hello everyone. Just a quick question about the typical order processing at Factory Five.

Last Thursday I placed an order for my Mk4 complete kit. I got the return email right away with links to download the manual and some other stuff, but since then I haven't heard anything, nor has my CC taken the deposit hit.

I know they're very busy over there so I'm understanding. I just want to make sure my order didn't somehow fall into the ether. Thanks everyone.

wait a week, drop an email if you don't hear anything. I don't think they have anyone answering phone calls right now.

Calling might help. I'm sure their busy but will answer the phone.

I will admit that although thing get rolling, the customer service isn't the greatest. They seem to work mostly via email and IM. I am about to get my kit and have never spoke to anyone on the phone. They will take care of you though... I just think they are short staffed.... like the rest of the world.

I tried calling, it doesn't even ring and goes straight to VM. I would have emailed but I don't have any specific email addresses to send them to.

To me, this isn't a witch hunt, I'm just curious. I know I've got MONTHS before I actually take delivery so there's plenty of time and I'm not in a hurry. I just wanted to make sure my order didn't get lost.

Also, FYI, literally two minutes ago I got my order confirmation.

I've been finding that email works best. I get a response anywhere between 1 day and 1 week after I contact them. I'm sure they got your order. I freaked out after I wired my balance (Big Bucks) and didn't get a confirmation of receipt from them for a couple of days. But they did respond, and I got my kit. They're understaffed and overwhelmed. Everyone's been super nice and accommodating even if a little late sometimes.

I ordered my kit last Oct and I got a call from them about 3 weeks later going over the order details and letting me know the estimated completion date of Jun 18. The cc hit about a week later and then I received my sales order sheet i an email. Anytime I had questions or wanted to make a change it took about a week to hear back and they have been very helpful especially considering how backed up they are. I sent them an email wanting to make other changes to the order and they emailed back that they are now asking everyone to wait until 2 months prior to the competition date to make any wanted changes to give them time to work on orders coming up sooner. Seems reasonable to me and it gives me a chance to get all my changes organized and get them done all at once.

That's good to know. I've also got a couple minor alterations to make so I'll just make a list and next fall bring them up to FF. My completion date is 11/26/22.

Good idea and you will likely have more changes. I made a few last minute changes because of backorders and just some personal decisions. My completion date is two weeks away!

I placed my order on 12/18/21. I sent them an email on 12/23/21, stated that I hadn't heard from them about my order, and that I already needed to make a change to my order (switched from 3 link to IRS). I had a response and confirmation of my order and my changes within a few hours.

Unfortunately, my production/completion date is 9/10/22. The longest 9 months of my life. The longer I wait, the more I read, the more I want to buy/upgrade. About every 2 weeks, I have to prune my want list to keep the overall cost within reason.

This trend will continue. I was lucky enough to only have to wait 4 months. It was honestly some of the longest of my life.

My only advice is to slow your roll on purchasing anything that doesn't require a lead time or you are 100% sure about. If I was to post mortem my build one of the bullets would be all the stuff I bought that I never used that I changed my mind on mid build. I have a couple shelves of items that will eventually make its way to the for sale forum.

I'm worried about being in that boat as well. Fortunately I've got an engine, transmission, and 8.8 axle to completely rebuild so that'll kill some time (and money). I also picked up a little Hobie catamaran to play in the Gulf with. Hopefully that will distract me a bit as well. That Hobie's gonna collect dust in the Summer of 23 though.

My experience is similar to others. Ordered my MK4 Complete kit in mid-November, got a follow up email about a week later. My completion date is mid-July. I wanted to make some changes to my order in January, they asked me to hold off until 6 weeks before my completion date. Going to the build school in May and getting the garage ready in the meantime!

take your time and enjoy the journey. I'm just over 3 yrs now into my build. First summer not much happened as I was training for a century bike ride for charity. Year #2 things sped up due to pandemic/quarantine and I had much more time to work on the car. First start around 18mo after starting, but also learning to rebuild a 289 HiPo during that time. Had another child in year #2. Car was pretty much fully done mechanically around 2.5yrs after receiving the kit. Currently waiting my turn for body/paint.
I found the whole process very enjoyable, even the frustrating times. Currently daydreaming about my next project.
