I've read many threads regarding the footbox vents, and saw several mentions of concerns using air from brake ducts for ventilation — meaning that brakes may not get enough air for cooling. How big of a concern this really is?

The brake ducts were used for that purpose on the original cars however I have never seen them ducted to the brakes on a Factory Five roadster that isn’t a dedicated track car.

Thank you, Jeff! As always, full of knowledge and wisdom! I do not plan to make my Cobra a dedicated track car, May be an occasional autocross, but nothing major. Brake ducts it is!

I plan on ducting to the brakes but will also "T" off for the interior. Will most likely use some form of valve/gate to divert the flow depending on the needs.
But I'm planning on a fair amount of track time.
As Jeff indicated this isn't something that a streetcar needs.

The duct opening is easily large enough to accommodate both brake and footbox cooling.

that's a cool brake duct you have there! (I was looking at it today and decided there's no point of "taking over" the whole brake duct, I'll be picking up less air, but it should be fine.

Depending on what adapters you get to connect the hose to the duct opening, try to get the air from the top of the opening. It is a small difference but believe me the temp of the air on a good hot afternoon that close to the black macadam is not as cool as you would expect. So every little bit of height off the road helps.

I am also planning on both foot box and brake venting. I found that Period Correct offers an ideal solution to do both separately. So, maybe check these out?

You can also use the blinker light location for another intake if you have blinkers in the headlights. Lots of options out there but if you arent pushing the car HARD on track with sticky tires youll never need the brake ventilation.

I’m doing vents with no fans, and I’ve read that location requires blower to get a meaningful amount of air to footboxes

Digging those overriders.

Wait until you see the rest of Mike's ride; he has done some amazing work! I will let him reveal it when he's ready, but the man has mad skills!!

Steve

Molding the dual intakes into the glass is cool,....

But for those like me who are not ambitious enough to tackle the glass work, there is an ABS insert that does the same thing.

I them in my car.....Don't remember the source..
