Good grief! One question ... how are they going to get Carroll Shelby's signature on the dash and claim it's original?

Gotta love this little tidbit.
“The Diamond Edition 1965 Shelby Cobra is for offroad use only and is not street legal.”
Hahaha

Probably just because it won't have a VIN. I imagine you could get one if you tried.

The marketing BS is strong with this one. Starting with "reimagined" it went downhill fast.
On second thought.... I didn't see "bespoke" or "inspiring".

"... the 'Diamond Edition' race car body weighs only 88 pounds and will produce over 800 horsepower, making for a stunning power-to-weight ratio."
Maybe they just assume the reader knows the weight of the rest of the car. Heck, not sure they know the weight of the rest of the car. Working past that ... there's definition in terms of major component selection, but almost nothing in terms of engineering or original content. I'm not sure what would make it unique other than the carbon fiber body. Oh, and the price tag. If I had the cash in hand (huge 'if' there), pretty sure I wouldn't want to be first in line.
So, essentially for $1M over a really nice CSX continuation you get a reproduction Shelby signature, a diamond crusted badge/emblem, and a carbon fiber body. Sounds like a great deal.

Yeah... the marketing BS is ridiculous and the price is even more ridiculous, but you gotta admit, that body is pretty damn cool.

I am shocked. I had come to the conclusion here that nothing is extreme, and no interpretation of the legend is going too far. So Classic Recreations has jumped the shark? (snake?)

I did notice that they said the plugs and molds were autoclave cured, but didn't say the body was. Looks pretty nice though.

Anyone remember what a standard FFR body weighs? I am thinking 200# maybe? If they sell just one they will have made a huge profit.

I looked at the body and went WOW, I looked at the price and went Booooo.

I think it's like 110 ponds without the hood. trunk, and doors, so yeah - 200 total sounds about right.

Seriously, a diamond encrusted badge on a Cobra?
I suppose you have to offer something for $1,200,000 ... whew.

Speedkore has been creating carbon fiber replicas in Grafton WI for years; cars more complex than Cobra. A comprehensive article was done by Hot Rod on Speedcore recently.
https://speedkore.com/
Their processes are the highest quality (cost) including autoclave and CNC cut aluminum plugs and in some cases molds.
Like BaT auctions, there is always a high end customer. you have difficulty identifying with.

I think our builds are averaging $45K now. A carbon fiber body might weigh 100 lbs. less than ours. For another $1,155,000 can we somehow get another 25hp to make up for the 100 lbs.?
I was thinking of maybe a set of under-drive pulleys with diamonds around the outside.

The specs back when I bought my MK3.1 was claiming a total of 190 lbs.
Finished car with full bumpers, dual roll bars, a half tank of fuel, plus a few other modifications, such as footbox cooler system, and double walled footbox floor and front panel, weighed 2260lbs total.

Wow,what a great idea. All you have to do is sell one, it's like hitting the lottery. We are all upset because we didn't think of it first.

Another carbon fiber Roadster you can't afford:
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1965-shelby-cobra-427-csx4000r/
Does not run like a Coyote, but it does sound authentic.
And a four barrel carburetor for $317K?

So, I'll ask what does the regular FFr body weigh, id guess around 200 lbs as I lifrted 1/2 of one when we put the body onto the car. so lets see 200 - 88 we save what ? 112 lbs, REALLY ???
I'll Pass

The body weighs 110 pounds
Doors 18 pounds each
Hood 35 pounds
Trunk lid 21 pounds
So all in the FFR fiberglass body is 202 pounds.

So, at a difference of 114 lbs., that's just over $10,500 per pound.

This kind of reminds me of an old story… About 20 years ago I introduced a business acquaintance (who I refer to as “the president of the Bloomington, Indiana More Money Than Sense Club”) who was interested in having a GT40 built to Wayne Presley. Wayne was importing and completing CAV GT40s at the time. Somewhere during the conversation he told Wayne that he would need an aluminum block. Wayne kind of looked him up and down (he’s kind of a portly guy) and said “You know, that’s not really necessary. You could easily save a couple thousand dollars, be healthier and live longer if you just lost the 50 pounds yourself.” If you know Wayne you know that’s classic Wayne :) :) :)

The likely target audience for this thing is Saudi princes (and up until recently, Russian oligarchs). $1M for this thing is pocket change for them. They'll probably sell more than one of these to the same folks that buy the $1.7M Koenigsegg Gemera (https://www.koenigsegg.com/gemera/) as their daily driver.
