In tank fuel pump

Hello all, I have a FFR 33 HR I recently purchased with an LS3, it has a noisy fuel pump... more than usual.

I had planned to change it at some point but recently found the builder of the car and through conversation I found out he installed an in tank pump that at some point wasn't working as it should so he added the in line pump.

I am taking the car apart for paint and will be exposing the tank so thought it would be a good time to change the in tank pump and eliminate the in line pump all together.

I am reading threads on the forums about issues with in tank pumps but my first choice would be in tank.

I know a pretty general question but what's everyone using for FI in tank fuel pumps with success.

I'm looking at Walbro GSS342 (TI automotive only) and Deatschwerks DW200

Is there something else I should be looking at for reliability and not pulling it out soon after install.

I believe you are much better off with an in tank pump for most applications. If you're racing, it might be more convenient to use an inline as its easier to swap out. In tank pumps run much cooler, are quieter, and IMHO safer. My tank is one of the Boyds tanks and I am using a Tanks, inc. setup from Summit. I had to modify the tank but that was easy. AS far as reliability goes, look at what the OEMs are running in their factory hot rods and I don't think youll find a single one with an inline pump. Good lick and enjoy the ride.

not familiar w/ the hot rod , but how accessible is the fuel tank with the body on? are you able to cut an access panel to get to the fuel pump if needed?

Thanks guys... I much prefer the in tank pump and because it's already been set up for one will be an easy install, as for access I am removing the waterfall for paint and will have or make access when I do.

Really wanted to know what you all were using for an in tank pump with success and longevity, I've read allot of threads with failure early on... thanks again.

I'm running the Boyd tank but switched out the supplied Aeromotive for a Walbro on my LS powered hot rod. The Aeromotive was already sounding noisy and was a little big for my application anyway. The Walbro in my last mustang lasted over 20 years and 200k miles. Just be aware, if you go with the Walbro , there are many counterfeits on the market - know who you are buying it from...

Great thank you... I have heard of the counterfeit Walbros and would buy directly from Walbro, reached out to them yesterday regarding the GSS342 assuming that's the one I want
