Hi Guys,

I am running my positive lead from my front mounted battery along the DS frame tube then up to a cutoff switch and a line back down to starter similar to other builds. My concern is heat from the headers melting split loom. Any experience out there with this? I bought some loom online that said it was good to 297F but it does not have the gray stripe I have seen on other “hi temp” stuff. Alternative I am considering is running the cables inside heater hose.

Thanks!

Heat rises. I have had no issues with this. Keep the cables low and you will be fine.

I had the same concern and ended up purchasing some Fiberglass wrap for the wires from Amazon. Wrapped each wire individually to increase the protection. Allegedly good to 600 degrees and helps reduce some amount of the heat radiated by the headers. I guess time will tell.

There is no reason to put battery cables in any kind of loom. It wouldn't melt unless it was with in an inch or so anyway

I used split loom as a physical protector for my batt cable. It was far enough from the headers that I wasn't worried about heat. You could use loom and then wrap it w/ this. The advantage to this style is that it can be installed after the fact w/o taking anything apart.
