Current lead times for the Roadster

Hello everyone.

I'm at a point in my life where building a Roadster is in the cards so recently I purchased a 1995 Mustang GT that I'll be ripping apart to get at the good stuff and tossing the rest. Then over the next few months I'll completely rebuild the engine, trans, and axle.

My question is the lead times on a Roadster complete kit. Yes, I know I've got a donor but I want all new chassis components. This 95 is in neglected shape and I'll have enough to do rebuilding the powertrain components.

Also, how "complete" have the deliveries been lately? By that I mean how much was backordered? When I peruse Summit I'm seeing TONS of stuff backordered which makes me thing this project will extend out years instead of months due to backorders.

Ordered in December. Mid-September date. I suspect by now you're looking at November or December.

Regarding your question on the backordered parts, I picked my kit up about a year ago and the list of backordered parts was over a page long. Most of them I received in 3 to 4 months. The last part was received a week ago. I believe I recently read on the forum that the backordered parts are fewer now. The missing parts never slowed me down and I was able to work around the parts that I was waiting on. Enjoy your build!

Thanks everyone. Looks like I may order my kit before nature intended just so I'm not sitting on a finished powertrain for too long.

yeah, depending on how long it takes you to rebuild the powertrain, I'd go ahead and order the kit now, anticipating delivery late this year. Part out the rest of the donor and start making a list of other goodies you want/need to get (drop trunk, breeze automotive products, etc). If you plan appropriately, you'll save yourself a ton in shipping, unlike what I did.
