One final item I need to finalize on my kit order is what to do about wheels. The 18" Halibrands certainly work, but I'm looking at other options. I like the look of dark FR500 wheels, but the options seems to come in either 17x10.5 or 18x10. I can't find 18x11 or 18x10.5. A couple examples:

18x10:

17x10.5:

It seems like people have no problem putting 315's on the 17" wheels, but all recommendations I can find for 10" wheel recommend no wider than 295.

So the questions:
- how wide could you go on a 10" wheel?
- would I be sacrificing contact patch by going to a narrower (relatively speaking) tire, and thus grip?

There thoughts are that sticking with 18" wheels would provide more tire options as well as more clearance for brake options should I want to upgrade later. Having said that, I know there are plenty of people running 17s with wilwoods, no maybe a moot point.

Thanks!

I checked the NITTO Website for several of their tire styles and it looks like the biggest/widest 18" tire is a 305/35-18 which was offered in the NT-01.

I think your widest option that fits within most tire manufacturer recommendations would be a 305, but they do vary from brand to brand.

Happy Riveting, Wrenching, Sanding & Painting!

315s on 17x10.5s has been a standard FFR fit for a long, long time. 315s on 18x10 is pushing it but I would probably still do it. I have been buying wheels from these guys for a long time.

I have 315s on my 18s from FFR but they are 11" wide. Options are more limited for sure.
