View Full Version : Invisigard front end PPF kit
Has anyone here installed this PPF kit on there Mk4? If you have please PM me, want to see how difficult it was to install and how the final product turned out. Nobody in my area has ever done a Factory 5 cobra and there are no templates available from Xpel only rear spats.
Thank you

You will have a difficult time getting it installed mostly due to the fact that the install is more difficult than the average installer is capable of. I used to manufacture transparent car bras and made a MKII kit. I never had a customer (shops) successfully install one on a cobra. There used to be a company Invince-a-Shield that did more abbreviated kits for cobras but they went out of business. Trust me on this, XPEL has had plenty of opportunity to do a kit for FFR cobras. They are wise to stay away. Your best bet is to have a custom installer install some film with raw material, but you do risk the installer cutting your paint with that method.
I suggest starting with your local Ferrari and Aston Martin dealerships and see who they use.
EDIT: Forgot to directly answer your question. I have installed paint protection film on many hundreds of high end and exotic cars. The cobra shape is positively the last one a new installer would want to tackle. Installing things like spats are not a big deal for DIY, but a good job on that front end requires a very skilled installer. Even if you find a kit, trying would be a mistake.

I'm in southern Commiefornia and I had Expel PPF applied by Premier Armor In Corona CA to the entire front up to the hood opening and over the fenders, door sills, spat area, and behind rear tires. I believe the expel kit includes everything except behind the rear tires. Maybe you need to be a dealer to get this kit or maybe it’s just not on there website. As far as difficulty my installers are expert’s and they screwed up the first piece and had to make a new piece. As far as how it looks, yes you can see the edges. There are a few places where two pieces are joined together and he’s you can see it. For the protection the PPF provides for me, I think it’s worth it. Pm me if you would like to talk.

I've known the guys at XPEL for over 20 years. Always been a good company. I don't know about today, but back in the day they only sold through dealers. Their system worked by dealers paying for the right to download a single use cut, and the dealer supplied and cut the film. I wouldn't be surprised if they had an FFR kit and discontinued due to install difficulty. Back in the early 2000s a couple of companies had Superformance kits.

Sent you a PM.
Problem I am running into is all the Xpel installers in my area do not have a template for a Cobra, so it is a custom install and just the nose is $2500 to cover. When they do a Porsche the computer will pop out a pre-cut template so it is much easier to install. I can have the entire front end/hood touched up from rock chips and clear bra sprayed by my painter for the same cost. I have also heard mixed reviews on PPF, if you do get a tear or nick in the film there is no way to repair other than re-installing and then the horror stories of paint peeling off when you do remove it.

Fman, how are your fenders holding up with the mud flaps? You are the one who installed universal mudflaps, right? I was considering this option rather than spats.
