Finally received 1/2 my Wilwood brake upgrade (rear) drop shipped from the manufacturer. Wilwood’s roadster install video (only one I can find) entitled “Rear Big Brake Installation w/Parking Brake on a Factory Five Cobra” details an install on an OEM mustang axel that involves removing the axel and bolting on a bracket adapter then reinstalling the axel. Dan G details the same in his rear brake install vid. The Moser solid rear end comes with the bracket adapter welded ready for the caliper bracket. But, due to its position on the axel, results in a 2 o’clock caliper position (10 o’clock position looking at the passenger side installation) rather than an 8 o’clock / 4 o’clock as shown in the Wilwood vid. My neophyte question is- is this ok? What engineering considerations are involved in designing where the caliper is located around the rotational plane of the rotor? The pic shows my install. Sorry for the 90 degree left rotation… my first photo upload.

It doesn't matter where it is as far as braking is concerned. I am concerned w/ 2 things re caliper position. 1- The bleed screw needs to be at the top of the caliper. 2- The park brake cable needs to have clearance and not be forced into a tight bend.

Here is what mine looks like, which addresses both concerns noted above.

Ha! I’ll bet I’m not the only person to realize what’s wrong with whatever was asked in a post after hitting the “post” button. As soon as I did, I saw the error of my ways. I have since fixed my install and now it looks as good as yours, Papa.

You can always reach out to Gordon Levy, I sent him a pic of the same bracket on the front and he advised me they were backwards.
