Hi all, I ordered my complete kit about a month and 1/2 ago and got a chassis build date of Oct 1. After reading about all the back ordered and missing parts I am concerned and considering canceling my order. I am retired and was planning on doing the build as a full time 40 to 50 hour pr week job until complete. What is the reality of the parts situation from people receiving their kits and how long does it take to actually receive ALL parts?
Thanks in advance for any info,

Sounds like the recent deliveries have had a much shorter POL and it’s improving. I get mine in a few weeks and will let you know. A lot can change in 8 months.

I received mine in September and by January there were only a few items left, specifically the steering rack is really holding me up.
You may have a long wait on an engine depending on where you are sourcing it from.
Good luck.

I ordered a MK4 complete kit in November, August completion date and was wondering about the POL / back order situation as well. I certainly get the feeling things are improving month by month. I’ve been ordering long lead items earlier than normal. Ordered my Coyote in January due to the control pack delays.
I’ll have the motor before the kit. All good, I can look at the motor while I wait for the car.

Maybe you can order your kit and try to figure out what the likely backorder will be and source many of those things now and have FFR credit you back (although this may cost you more). Or, look for someone who is unable to complete the kit they ordered. You have until about September to cancel. I would wait.

If you have a specific deadline you are shooting for then maybe missing parts will be a problem. Otherwise, work on the parts you do have. A missing spindle might keep you from completing the first few steps but skip ahead and lay out the wiring for your dash. There is always something you can work on. This is supposed to be fun, not an assembly line job anyway. Have fun.

Waiting on anything is not a good trait for me. I got my kit a year and a half ago and I had about 2 pages of back ordered parts and the pandemic was just starting so my POL parts all came within 4 months. I have another engine on order now and it's killing me and supposedly it will be here in two more months. I'll believe it when I see it. But... when you get the car done and you can sit in your garage with a beer staring at it and say, "Man I own a Cobra". It's all worth it. I waited 55 years to own one. I am glad I waited for this one.

There isn't much these days that don't have delays. My neighbor just got on the waiting list for a Porsche 911 GT3.....18+ months before they will even ask you what color you want.
We have some big guys here that are happy. Maybe do a little more research before you pull the plug. Unless maybe you just retired from the NBA.
