Is the kit-offered wiper option "good enough" to get by, or have you found it's worth whopping around for a more robust alternative?

Some years back as I was making my build excel sheet, I noted a breeze alternative to the kit option; however, it doesn't appear to be on Mark's site anymore.

Any other options worth exploring? The general consensus I gather from the forum is the Lucas style wipers are not very robust, don't work well, and more expensive than possibly some other options.

Thanks!

I just received Mark's wiper kit. You have to call and speak to him because he doesn't have many of them left. When I spoke to him a couple of weeks ago he had everything but the wiper switch. He said he was having a difficult time finding the switch because of the crazy supply issues everyone is dealing with. I don't recall if it is the same unit that FFR is selling but his price is definitely cheaper. And if Mark is selling it, it is definitely not garbage. I had to source the switch from a not to be named vendor as a thread was recently shut down because of a discussion regarding their business practices. I was fortunate and received the switch in 2 weeks.

Not sure about the quality but this is an option too: https://prdcrrct.com/product/shelby-cobra-wiper-kit/

EDIT: Period Correct is my default choice for everything I need. I only look elsewhere if they don't carry the item.

Paul supplies good stuff. He is very particular about his work, and quality is important. He uses what he sells.

IMO the wipers are more for looks and getting by DMV inspections then what they are worth. In any amount of rain they really are not much help. A good coating of glass protectent (many different suppliers) and a reasonable rate of speed keeps the glass cleaner than the wipers.

The supplied ones actually work pretty well for me.

Thanks all - agree the wipers are for registration more than anything.

I installed the FFR kit and the first time I needed to use them they failed. Now for the rest of the story...

I ordered new wheel boxes, arms, and blades to "upgrade" my failed wipers. What I found when I disassembled the system was a missing nut on the wheel box that allowed it to open enough for the gears to pull away from the cable rod or whatever it's called. I think the FFR kit is as good as the replacement parts I bought. Just be sure to use thread lock on those bolts an you should be fine. I also swapped out the stainless tubing for NiCop that was much easier to work with.

I live in when it rains it's a monsoon Florida. I have done several multi-hour HEAVY rain trips. The FFR wipers do work well enough. As with most things on a Cobra, you have to keep your sense of humor. I have to scrunch down and lean a little to the right to get the clear spot. If you want it like an original.....there you go!

Like others I put the extra effort in and they work very well for me. I found myself using them the most in light mountain rains, so I installed an intermittent switch and a washer too.

For me, you won’t find a better system than this. https://www.specialtypowerwindows.com/power-windshield-wiper-kits
You want WWK-2

Do you have this on your car? Would love to see some pictures (or even a video) if it's possible.

I'm in the process of installing these on my roadster. Edwardb installed them in his coupe build, which is where I first saw them. The entire unit, from motor to drive boxes, is far more robust than the FFR unit. I can't speak to how they work yet, but I will say that the motor is much larger than the FFR unit, and would be challenging to fit in the usual place if you are planning to install a heater. Without a heater in the way, it's no problem.

Edit: I also did a short write-up on how to wire this kit to a Lucas toggle switch here (https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?31167-Greek-Guys-Garage-Roadster-Build-9509-(glove-box-finished)&p=422720&viewfull=1#post422720).

Not a great photo, but you can see the motor on the PS side of the firewall here:

Wonderful, thank you.

I also sent them an email that they responded to within minutes. We subsequently had 6-8 emails, all were responded to within minutes. I am super impressed and will be ordering this kit!

Sorry I did not see your message earlier. Remember to order the wiper arms and wipers as well. They do not come with the kit. I forget the nice lady’s name who always answers the phone there, but she’ll ask you how you are mounting your wipers and to which side they will park. Of course you will likely want the 10 inch wiper blade. I have it installed in my Mk1 and believe me, I have less space to install it then any coupe with any engine or cobra with a coyote for that matter. I have heat and AC and the other half is the top of the foot box and all the space required for Forte’s accelerator linkage. I have moved my motor location and rebuilt from scratch the rack tube more times than I care to say until I finally found The spot that works best for me. If you look to the left just past my windscreen washer bag, you will see an aluminum protective box. My motor is behind that. I used rivnuts on the front of the passenger foot well and mounted it there. The metal box is a heat shield for the motor as the headers will pass by about 4 inches away. Once again, sorry about the sideways pic. I am on my iPad and I guess don’t feel like resizing the picture. I am pretty sure I have a celebratory working video as well as better pictures when the motor was in. I’m expecting my 347 back from Blueprint in a couple of weeks.
Lastly, I first heard about these from Paul as well. I believe he used them on his last Mk4 before using them again on his Coupe.
