New GTM owner wants info on Wisconsin title process.

Hey I am new to the forum and the new owner of an unfinished gen1 GTM. I have been doing body work, restoration and some customizing as a side gig for about 30 years. I have wanted to own a GTM pretty much since they first came out. I purchased mine last summer (2021) for an amazing price. I am hoping to complete it in around 2 years but don't know if that will be possible. I also am looking ahead and looking to hear from anyone that has personally registered for a new title in Wisconsin. I know about the home built hobbyist title but am curious about the stories of the car having to meet all current new production car requirements. Please tell me this is not so.
I have seen GTMs with Wisconsin plates so please if you have gone through the process or even tried, what was your experience?

Your best bet is going to be to call your local DOT and ask what the process is. Good luck on the build!!

good luck with the build ! I am just finishing a GEN1 build... #112 - I know in Alabama you have to have the car somewhat completed before they will inspect it. But definitely check the local DOT or the website.

Your right and I will talk to them. I was hoping to get a little bit of a heads up from someone that has gone through it themselves. I've have heard some second hand horror stories.

I will have to look to see what number mine is. Things have been really busy since I picked it up and I haven't checked. It is definitely going to be one of the bigger projects I have done.
