Since these Cars are essentially unlockable , I am planning on marking MANY, MANY parts with something like (the last 4 digits of my social/initials?) and State. i'm hoping the frames has the FFR vin in more than one place on it.
And
I'm thinking about a hidden ignition(toggle) switch and starter(momentary button) switch for the starter.

What are your folks thought on this??

On older aircraft that have no key having a hidden kill switch was totally (and still is acceptable).

Unnecessary, who's going to steal such a unique one of a kind car. They can't resell it, they can't send it to a chop shop. Not only that, most can't drive a manual stick car. I worry more about my pickup truck getting stolen than the Cobra, they 'rarely' get messed with.

Suprisingly, there are very few reports of stolen cobras, they are usually being watched by somebody all of the time.

And if a Cobra is stolen, I will bet that it will be flat bedded to a chop shop and the parts will be scattered in hours.

One of the best deterrents to a drive away theft is in plain sight.....A Manual Transmission

I have a 3 position toggle manual kill switch in plain sight on the dash, right next to the key......If I ever need to use the kill, ....I want it where I can reach it in a split second.......Upper position is
" IGN A", lower position is "IGN B", center position is unmarked.

Most people see it and brush it off because they think I have a backup ignition. Actually the center position is the run, and either up or down will ground the coil wire......And after the ignition looses the coil wire, it will lose oil pressure, and that will kill the fuel pump.

Marking the frame is OK if it makes you feel better, but it probably wont make a lot of difference after the car is stripped and what cant be sold is crushed.....It will make a difference when the car is initially inspected, but FFR already puts the MSO # on the 2 x 2 above the drivers left knee......Harbor Freight has a set of numbering stamps that wlll do the job..

ALSO.... regarding the hood and trunk locks.....FFR only has 4 or 6 (?) sets of keys for all of the cars that they have ever sold......Locking your hood and trunk will only keep the pedestrians out of those areas.....Your keys will fit 16-25 % of all the FF cobras that you see.

My best advise is to pick a good insurance company.

EDIT: I need to learn to type faster.

I don’t have any marked parts or hidden switches but I do have good insurance.

Jeff

PS To Derald: Actually ALL of the hood and trunk locks use the same key(TFF01). There are 6-8 different ignition keys. On several occasions I have had 2 and even 3 cars in the shop at the same time that used the same key!
