I had difficulty threading the upper ball joints all the way into the upper control arms. Could only get them about 1/2 way into the control arm. Has anyone else had this issue and how did you resolve it? Also, FFR indicates the upper control arms are unavailable. Anyone have an idea how long items like these are back ordered? Thanks.

If it’s anything like the MK4, the anti corrosive coating needs to be stripped off the BJ threads first using a wire wheel

And, what tool are you using to thread them in? Ball joint socket? Or the ball joint clamped into a vise, threading the a-arm onto it?

I had to get a socket (chrysler 1-59/64") since my BJ got stuck in the A arm. I had used red loctite and had to take a torch to break the loctite then use an air impact wrench to get it back off. Once I stripped the coating off, it threaded it very easily.

Thanks, very helpful

Was using vice, but will use a socket based on other responses to my post. Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the information. It would have been helpful for FFR to have made that suggestion in the manual. Thanks again.

I've thought that mult times in the build process. If you don't catch some important tips in the forums, then you are up the creek without a paddle at times.

Upper control arms are sourced from SPC Performance, Longmont, CO

I don't know if they are the same part number as a roadster, or the part number of the roadster part.

But it is a start for your search.. Someone here has that info.

SPC is also avail from summit and jegs.

I had the same issue when I built my roadster a few years ago. This year for my Coupe I used Howe racing 22320s ball joints. Threaded in with no issues.
The supply chain issues continue to haunt FFR. I received my Coupe kit 3/30/2021. Still waiting on some major and minor back order items.
