Good morning everyone,

I want to start by saying Thank you to Jkleiner, JMiller, EdwardB, Srobinsinx2, STL-Scott. Their build threads and answers in the threads have been a massive help to me while building my MKIV!

Now for my reason for the post. How do I ensure that the hood and trunk lid are in the correct position (center line and gaps) when it’s on the body buck for taping the the strips. I have read multiple posts from Kleiner on how to find and mark the center line on the body, so I’m all good there. The hood and truck when on the hinges are in line, I’m just not sure how to replicate that when I take the body off the for paint. I am sure it’s something so simple, I just can’t see it. Any tips would be great.

Thanks

Jay

Easy Peasey! Spray your stripe color down the middle then simply lay the hood and trunk lid into their openings, equalize the gaps all the way around and lay tape down along the edges to hold them in position while you lay out and tape the stripes. Once your outside lines are established pick them up and mask the field.

When you put it all back together adjust to align the stripes and your margins will be equal (or…equalize your margins and the stripes will match—-6 one way a half dozen the other ;) )

Cheers,
Jeff
