View Full Version : roll bar height and angle
There's been many threads on this and I've read them all.
This is what the original roll bar looked like. It had a lean but sat higher than the windshield frame.

The FF roll bar is way too straight, I don't like it:

Breeze has a proper angle but the size is a tad bit too small.

I'm inclined to order Breeze but would love to find one that's a bit taller, but not as straight as Factory Five. Does anyone make one like that? Or is there a way to get there easily?

The angle of the FFR roll bar is built into the mounts. Unless your willing to cut the mounts loose and reweld there isn't you can do to change it. I agree it does look a bit too tall. It is on a 7 degree slant.

Hey Zee,
The Hi-Hi-High Roll Bars Bugged Me Too!
> I lowered mine by grinding off the spot welds on the mounting tubes so my bars now sit directly on the frame.
> In my case, taking this action lowered the roll bars approximately 1.5" but it did mess with the angle of the dangle of the supporting rear legs.
> My fear was if the car ended up on its lid or should I say my lid, I wanted the bars to be resting on the frame instead of sheering off the bolts.
The attached video lets you see what they look like, and also see my angle of the dangle of the supporting rear bars.

NOTE: The car still passes the broomstick test.

Hard to see from this angle, but these Breeze roll bars do sit higher than the windshield frame. I do like the angle and increased OD of Breeze roll bars, call Mark and he can discuss options.

Thanks all. I am 100% getting the breeze bars because I like them. I don't race so I am not as worried about a rollover (although I do still plan to get two rollbars). But the paranoid in me still wanted them to be another inch taller :).

Thank you. This is very helpful. I am going with Kirkeys vintage racing seats that sit lower than the stock FF seats, so I'll be lower and closer to the frame anyway.

Just an FYI in case you are not aware, the Breeze bars require welding and no small amount of fitting.

But very doable. Just take your time, and don't weld it all at once to minimize warping.
I set mine up on the car, very carefully marked it with a marker, and took it to a welder to tack it in 3 spots. I didn't have a jig to hold it together as some builders have done. Just very precise marks with the Sharpie marker. Brought it back and it test fit just fine. Took it to the welder again to complete the welds. Back on the car it slipped right on. When I took it to the polisher (mine is stainless) some how it must have really heated because the two vertical legs moved together about 3/16 inch. Put it on a press and a little persuasion spread them back out to where it slips right on.
I'm very happy with the fit, look, and finish.
