View Full Version : Wiring question: RT's turn signal stalk

For those of you who may have integrated Russ Thompson's turn signal system into their build, and specifically use of the flasher button for dimmer and flash to pass functions, I am curious where you are drawing 12V power from.

He has two schematics, one that suggests either any 12V source, or the fuse box. The other suggests using "headlight switch feed 2". I am inclined to use a fused source, and headlight switch feed 2 seems good. If you have used this circuit in your implementation, have you simply used a jumper from the headlight switch to the turn signal circuit?

Kind of a silly question, but I don't know the internals of the kit's headlight switch, and how Feed 1 and Feed 2 are variously used for switch functions.

Thx!

I used headlight switch feed 2 added a wire from the switch to the turn signal system

Maybe splitting hairs, but voltage related to the headlight switch has nothing to do with the turn signal circuit. The only part of the RT switch used for headlights is the momentary switch. Along those lines, I'd recommend the ididit 3100006040 High Beam/Low Beam Switching Relay versus building one of the low/high switching circuits from scratch. Doesn't use one of the trouble prone Bosch style latching circuits (my experience) and is already built. Have one in my truck build and it works perfectly. 520 Speedworks has a similar relay box, although I don't have any experience with it.

I will save this post as one would save a parachute. I have already wired up the momentary switch for hi/low beams using the Bosch relay. Will be testing all this soon :-)
