Hi All, have a coupe on order, but its months away.

Been looking for an electric steering option for the Coupe, preferably one that will play nicely with Russ Thompson's steering column blinker-switch that I am planning on using as well. I have seen electric steering in a few threads but nobody seems to have given a definitive answer as to which kit to go for....EPAS Performance makes one for the FF MKIII Cobra, not sue if that will work, or if I should just go with a "universal" setup and just make it work. Like the idea of easier install, but more importantly less steering assist (can dial it up or down) as sounds like these cars don't need much - appreciate anyone who can point me in any direction!

I bought the universal kit from EPAS since my 33 build with a Buick Nailhead engines headers interfered with the stock location. easy install as it only required welding the mount plate where it would work. By the way, I had some electrical issues with the install and the people were great with tech support and replacing the bad controller.

Fantastic! That was going to be my plan, thank you. Seems like where there is a will there is a way! Just don't want to have to make custom mounting plates and cutting steering shafts if there is a kit someone offers specifically for the coupe....but obviously prepared to do so!

Not sure there is enough room in the Daytona for electric steering.

There is not enough room under the dash. I looked into it for my build. It would take some major surgery.

It's been awhile since I built a coupe (early Gen I) but the power unit would be located in the engine compartment attached to the frame somewhere. It doesn't need to be located behind the dash. Am I missing something here?

520 Speedworks makes an electric power steering kit for the Mk3 and Mk4 roadsters. I have no idea if it will fit in a coupe, but worth a look.

Thanks guys. Did some more poking around and looks like @snowman Was able to install one up front near the dash, then had to re-jigger a bit for final fitment of the steering wheel. Guess remains to be seen if it will all fit with the gauges/vents/wiring all up in there. Rather than pre-order this stuff will wait and see if and where there is space. There are a lot of great electric steering products out there, might have to pick one up for my Polaris sided by side "plowing" machine and do a trial install of one.

Thanks guys. I also found a post by @Snowman where he has installed EPS in the dash. Looks like took a bit of re-fitting once he got to the steering wheel and Russ Thompson steering column, but looks like it fits....will be interested to see if the dash needs any modification once gauges, vents, wires...etc. are installed. Guess it will be a wait and see approach on mine rather than order parts and have them sitting waiting only to find out they won't fit. Although could always install them in my Polaris side-by-side "plow vehicle" if they didn't work!

Because he says he has a coupe on order which makes it a gen 3. I seriously doubt there is any room. I will look next time I have one in the shop.

I've been looking into this as well. Snowman's build thread linked below would be a good place to look for an example. He is using the Mk4 kit from epowersteering along with the RT turn signal.

I retrofitted Electric steering to my 65 Coupe, check my post in the "Coupe Build" section dated8/29/21.There is a photo of the installation. I'm having computer problems and don't have access to my photos.
It's in the engine compartment. and there is a photo in that original post.

Thanks guys. Having problems posting replies as my account apparantly blocked by the moderators. Yes Gen 3. Found Snowman’s posts, will be interesting to see how that comes together. Looks like I can post again, not sure the issue.
