With absolutly no experiance, building a kit car is a difficult proposition. Not impossible, just difficult. Think of it as a challange.

This is not a snap-tite model. As you assemble each component, you need to understand what it does, how it works, and why it works. Otherwise you're bound to make some mistakes, and some of them will be expensive.

BUT... if you have the desire to do the work and learn about what you're doing, this is certainly a do-able project; it's not rocket science, and there's no fabrication involved. There's really no special tools that need to be purchased - just the basic tool set that any good garage mechanic needs. The assembly manual and these forums are a wealth of information, as are Chilton's Manuals.

Take your time, do your home work, and pay attention. As you put each component on, ask your self these three questions: What is this? What does it do? Why does it work? Once you have those answers, the rest is easy.

I have built several of these and what Bob says is mostly true. Probably going to require more tools than most people own though. Lots and lots of body fitting and tweaking which could require some specialty tools. Go for it. what have you got to lose?

How much room does the build eat up in a shop? Im just finishing up a 25x40 shop Im guessing that will have the room I need?

I suggest that you go to the build school before making a decision, you will see the whole process and will be able to make an informed decision. Even if you decide not to build you will gain some knowledge & have a fun weekend.

That's enough room to build 3-4 cars all at the same time!

Or you could build two in 48 hours and 10 friends :)

I agree with everything said above. Having "restored" a couple of cars, I still benefitted from attending the build school. Now when I start a section in the assembly manual I say, "I remember that"! It doesn't cover everything, but it goves you a great overall look at the degree of difficulty, plus some valuable tips and tricks. The part that has me a little concerned is the body work. I've worked metal a little but not 'glass. A new challenge. I once had a shop the size you're building. I had an 18' workbench, two dead Jensen Healeys, a living room, and still enough room to comfortably on a Chevy Suburban.
