Hi All,
I am new to the forum and want to see what people think about my proposal.
I have been in the carbon fiber business for the past 12 years mostly as a hobby, but also making race car and prototype type parts. I have been trying to see if I should turn my hobby into more of a business. What I am looking for is any ideals on what people want for their cars made in carbon fiber. I can do all sorts of parts and recently I have developed a way to do color carbon, i.e. a black carbon weave with a color weave that I can dye any color. This makes a real nice and custom look if you want to match your car color to say your carbon door sills or rear wing.
What I want to do is get peoples ideals and if someone has an ideal that I can make into a product and sell to others, I will give them the part for free as a thank you for the idea and help in introducing products.
Please understand this is not a spam, I am an single person shop just trying to find new products to make so I can turn this hobby into a business, as well as make cool parts for people who will enjoy uniqueness of carbon parts too.
Thanks for the advice,
Ric R

FFR stopped making the CF dashboard a while ago, and it was on my list of wants for when i get a kit (in a few years yet) Maybe a Tranny tunnel cover? Side Louvers?
Ric,
Welcome to the Forum and I'm sure that there are many members (myself included) that are looking forward to seeing what products you will be bringing to market. One thing that I would like to direct you to is the Vendors section (http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/content.php?125-Advertisers-and-Supporting-Vendors-Information) Rates are very inexpensive and before you "open up for business" you'll need to at least become a Bronze Supporting Member. You are not going to find a less expensive advertising rate anywhere on the 'net.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact myself or any of the other Moderators or the Administrators.

I don't know how FFR made a dime on the dash at the price they sold it for. His Daveliness says FFR has low margins. Got to believe that one. Its no wonder they stopped selling them.
I've done a trans console for mine and have thoughts of side louvers but stainless still rules on a lot of things...

I've seen CF valve covers before (http://www.carbonfibervalvecovers.com/carbonvc.htm), but I'd really like an oval "Cobra" air cleaner made of CF. Maybe have milled stainless steel letters embedded in the CF.
When I built my car I got the dash and door liners in CF directly from FFR. I also got real CF spats (cured CF, not CF fabric with glue) from FFR, that would be a good thing to offer.
Ray, sounds like he's testing the waters here, not advertising. Good luck Ric (BTW, are you the same Ric that worked for Bryan Dobyns?)

Hello Ray, I wil look into the advertising, i just want to see if there is a market here.
Spats, door panels, tranny covers and dashes would probably be the best selling items <<<IF>>> the price was right.. Probably not much of a market for rear wings IMHO...

The advertising rates here won't require you make a lot of money unlike the other forum or it won't pay off.

No problems here. Hope it goes well and you get things spooled up. I'd like to see the products you come up with as I'm getting the itch to add/change a few things myself.

Ric,
I'm building a coupe and was thinking of facing the dash with carbon fiber. I was wondering if you have it in sheets that could be cut and mounted on the dask. Do you have some sample pictures you could post ?

+1 for CF body. I'd be interested in the weight savings also.

Hood scoop!
X2:)
Perhaps a CF heater enclosure box, and CF battery box and cover, for the trunk mounted battery. CF fender side vents would be pretty cool, if they could be made.
How much less weight would a CF body actually be I wonder..50-60lbs? Would that really be worth the expense? How about just the trunk lid, hood, and door shells instead? that would be quite a weight saving, and not near as expensive as the complete body
Food for thought anyway...
