I swear one of these days something will go together without having to reinvent the universe. I picked up a set of motor mounts from Prothane because I’ve used them before and at the time the energy ones were out of stock. Well FML the spacers won’t work on these as the design is slightly different.
Should I just get some shims? What is the main reason for the spacers, the exhaust? I’m not running side pipes on my coupe so if that’s the case would I need them?
Thanks guys

I'm not 100% positive about the reason for the spacers. But have a few ideas based on experience and what I've seen/heard from others. When the Coyote was first installed in the Roadster, it was "normal" to put a spacer under the LH motor mount. As best I know, this was to tip the motor to the right slightly and keep it off the LH footbox because in that vintage Roadster it was a close if not interference fit without the spacer. Also it provided additional space for the steering column which passed right by the LH head of the Coyote. At that time, the spacer was between the motor mount and the frame. Not in the motor mount itself. Some time after that, Factory Five came up with the current spacers that were made to go inside the motor mounts (e.g. between the two halves) and also at the time they recommended they go on both sides. Again, my understanding was to clear the footboxes, the steering column, and also raised the entire engine so the oil pan wasn't below the frame rails. I've done two Coyote builds and have used the latest spacers on both sides, without any fitment issues. I've only used the Energy Suspension mounts. Which the spacers were designed for. For your situation, you could go back to the old way, which was a 1/2" spacer between the motor mount and frame. I'd recommend putting them on both sides. Back then, Whitby sold them. Don't know if they still do. Wouldn't be hard to make out of 1/2" stock if you have a fabrication skills. Just a rectangular piece with two holes. One for the bolt and one for the locating pin.

Thanks for clearing that up, I’ll just make some external spacers and be done with it. Also thanks for your build threads, they’ve came in handy a few times already. I need to create one.
