I'm having a slight issue with the right side tank mounting strap. The tank is in and mounted firmly against the four mounting points, the left side strap went in smoothly and the bolt has been started. The right side strap has been extremely difficult to get, it almost looks like the bolt needs to be about an inch longer. Anybody else run into this?
Yep -- A longer bolt is what most of us end up doing to solve this one. I replaced all the kit-provided bolts with stainless, and on the right side tank strap, I added a piece of stainless tubing over the bolt to help keep the strap from deforming as the bolt was tightened. Just be sure the tank is secured completely or it will rattle (ask me how I know).

I had the same issue and swapped the straps to see if one might be a tad longer than the other, which was the case.
I simply went with longer bolts (Allen Head / Stainless Steel) to give me the additional length needed.
You'll find little fitment issues like this throughout your build so be prepared for some hiccups.
Also, remember to install your rear wiring harness before you install the floor of the trunk.
Happy Wrenching, Rivetting & Wiring!
Good Luck!

Thanks. I'll get a longer bolt. Plumbing and wiring are next along with panels

Use a long bolt to pull the strap tight and it will kind of extrude it into shape. You can then swap out to the shorter bolt if you're so inclined---or leave the long one ;)

and if you're inclined to add the infamous "Kleiner mod", do it now before you put in the tank or else you won't be able to get the bolt in.

I'm not familiar with what you're talkiing about?

The body attachment bolts that come with the kit are too long to install with the tank in place when the time comes. There is a simple modification that uses threaded rod and couplers that you can install that will allow you to mount the body later without needing to drop the fuel tank.

It's a must do I'm told.... I have it scheduled in my build plan. This mod takes the rear jack mounts and makes them much easier to remove if needed without removing the fuel tank. If you need to remove the body for some reason, you would have to remove the tank first without this mod. The total cost of the mod is less than $20.

also allows for adjustment of the rear body to fit the trunk lid better when it comes time for body work.
If you get too far along in your build to do the mod as Jeff describes, you can do a variation of it well into the build as I did.

Good mod. But it takes all of 12 minutes to drop the tank if you don't.
