I will lock the levers in position on the SS shaft before i close up the DS footwell. I have a couple of ideas, but i am curious of what methods others have used to prevent the levers to rotate on the shaft. The clamping force alone is not enough.

Many drill through the lever and shaft and pin with a dowel.
Others drill & tap the lever arm and install a pointed set screw to bite onto the shaft. May need to put a slight drill point depression on the shaft.

I used a roll pin. for the arm in the footbox, I did not tap the pin in all the way, just in case I ever needed to remove it. get some good cobalt tipped bits and use plenty of cutting oil and slow drill speeds to get through that SS rod.

Roll pin for me too. I drilled the hole in the lever arm 1/64" oversize such that the pin could be set in place by hand. The hole in the shaft was properly sized so that the roll pin was captured. And as chewy says, leave enough pin sticking out so you can remove it if you have to.

Is there a defect in the Forte throttle set up? There should be no reason to have to drill the shaft, it should clamp with more than enough force to not move. You are only operating the throttle it shouldn't need much to prevent movement. I sourced all my on parts, and have never had movement. That said I'd prefer the arms to slip than being pinned and breaking something else say on the throttle body.

On my second Forte's linkage kit. Never drilled it and it's never moved on either car. Even when stomping the pedal to the max rotation.

Same here I just used the supplied parts by Forte and 2200 miles later no issues with anything on his set up.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I will probably try the roll pin route, and not push it completely in for easy removal. I think i will make a pedal stop as well so I won't put undue stress on anything if I happen to mash it too hard..

Forte provided me with stainless role pins for drilling and staking the lever to the shaft

Hmmm, it's been quite a while since I bought the parts. Can't remember any pins in the kit, but I'll certainly take a look.

Mine had roll pins provided in the kit but if you install the pins it is all but impossible to remove the shaft from inside the car if its pinned. I tightened mine up outside the car before install and tried to turn in and couldn't. If i'm hitting the pedal that hard to rotate the lever on the shaft I may need to ease up a bit on the old girl.

when using the set screw method, my arm slipped on the shaft with some pedal pressure while I was mocking it up. granted I didn't file a flat spot on the shaft, but I felt more comfortable with it pinned. again, for the pin inside the footbox, leave a bit of it out so you can remove it if necessary with a pair of pliers while upside down in the driver's seat.
I don't recall my kit coming with roll pins and I think I just picked some up from the hardware store.

A throttle pedal stop is mandatory IMHO. I always set mine up so I am just shy of full open at the carb. If you look down the carb at the throttle plate full open has the thin plate centered in the shaft. I adjust the pedal stop down so the plate is no longer centered but so the plate doesn't appear wider than the shaft.

Come to think of it; they were not in the original shipment. I had called Mike with a question about the return springs and we got discussion the install in detail. I told him of my plan to purchase some roll pins and he asked if I lost the ones that came with the kit. Not sure if I lost them or they didn’t ship; either way Mike sent me some new ones. His are stainless so they won’t rust.
