I just wanted to say hello to everyone on the forum. Like so many others I’ve always been drawn to the Cobra ever since I first saw one. That admiration for the car has never gone away. Well now I’ve reached a point in my career and life that it’s time to jump in with both feet. I ordered a MK4 complete kit on November 29th, and have a completion date of August 6th.

I can’t wait to get started and have spent countless hours reading all the amazing build threads. I just wanted to offer a huge Thank You to all the folks on the forum for building such a great community and all the amazing build threads. Without any doubt the build threads are truly inspirational and were most certainly a catalyst in my decision to join the FFR family.

My back ground, I’ve always been a car guy and was big into drag racing and dirt bikes in my earlier years. I‘ve always worked on my own cars but this will be my first car project of this magnitude, by far. I’m in the latter stages of my career with a major Aerospace company. I have two kids, one in college and one in high school and have been happily married for 26 years. My current past time is designing, building and flying high power rockets. I’m currently transitioning my garage from a rocket shop to an auto shop. Lots of new tools to buy woo hoo! I have to say the wife is very happy to see the rockets go to make room for the car. She hates rockets, I guess projects that take a ton of time and money and then explode once in a while is not her thing. My current hot rod is an Audi RS5 which I’ll plan sell this spring to help fund the roadster and make room in the garage while the used car market pricing is so crazy.

My build plan. As I mentioned I ordered a complete kit, IRS, Wilwoods and 18” wheels. I plan to incorporate many of the mods that others have done. We’d like to build a car that we can both drive and enjoy without too much effort. I definitely have power steering and brakes in my plan. I ordered a Coyote/TKX package from Mike Forte yesterday. Perhaps a bit early but wanted to try and beat all the price increases happening these days.

I plan to attend build school sometime this spring and looking forward to seeing all the cars at Huntington Beach in April.

Cheers.

Andy.

Welcome from another PWN local working in aerospace too (probably at the same one)!

It's quite the wait but I know it'll be worth it even if the RS5 has to go live in someone else's garage.
