View Full Version : Quick question on Breeze upper hinge mount?
Is there any harm in mounting the hinge to the 3/4 tube with through bolts rather than tapping and threading as Mark instructs?

Probably not
Thanks. I managed to get the first one in per the instructions, so I'll keep going. Scary using a drill this close to a finished hood.

Just don't over-tighten the suckers and squish the 3/4" tube.
If you use NILOC Nuts I think it would work out A-Okay.
Well, I got three out of four to thread properly. The last one was misaligned and the bolt missed the back side of the tubing. I'll need to run a through bolt in the one.

I used nutserts on the tube, 8 in total and probably overkill, along with SS buttonhead screws. Makes it easier to pull the radiator in the unfortunate event of failure.
Best of luck with your repair.

I read a bit about this before I installed mine. It looks like plenty of people have installed it without the threading. I installed mine with threading and it wasn’t too bad of a job… I think it just feels a little bit more of a secure feel. Mark really likes tapping holes!! Almost all of the stuff I got from him has tapped holes. But that was one of the more enjoyable parts of the build so I didn’t mind it.
