Do they fit? If there is one thing I regret it would have to be the fact I de-powered my master cylinder (94 gt donor) prior to the kits arrival. My car has been on the road since 2008 but I have always wished I had less brake pedal pressure. I have switched pads multiple times and even installed a Jeep master which was claimed to be the "fix" but the question that keeps nagging at my mind is simply "would the booster have fit if I'd just left it alone"?

I'm not interested in ripping out my pedal box or going nuts but I would sure be interested if there is a stock (mustang) booster that will fit under the hood. My car is in storage at the moment so it is difficult to just go measure but any input would be appreciated. I think this would be an awesome reason to pull the car out this winter and do a much needed modification.

Thanks,
Jerry

Yes you can absolutely install power brakes. The Mustang booster is a little too big for the stock frame (per my experience on my MK III) but it can be made to fit with a minor frame mod.

You can see my stock 1990 booster installed in my frame. I had to cut the outboard 3/4" tube and move it down about an inch to accomodate the booster. On the "other" Forum, Rod (user: dv/dt) used a smaller booster from another car and made it fit without a frame mod.

I actually found it easier to just move the factory parts directly to the MK III without any changes so I have a fully functioning suite of polution control systems, power steering, and power brakes.

The hydroboost system fits if you don't want the vacuum booster.

The "frame mod" takes all of about 15 minutes, so don't let "frame mod" scare you off. All you have to do it cut the 3/4" tube, bend it over an inch or two and then bolt it back together using a little plate that's easy to fab up in a few minutes. There is plenty of documentation on the other forum that can be easily found by looking through the archives. Also, Whitby's sells a frame mod kit if you don't want to do it yourself..

Thanks guys. My car is complete so I won't be doing the frame mod. Has anyone seen dv/dt on this forum?? I incorporated his ford probe turn signal mod when I built my car and would sure like to know what booster he used. I'm not familiar with the hydraboost but I'll be sure to look into that as well.

Just a thought? I went to the Electric Power Brake Kit by ABS Power Brakes. I'm going with Front:96 Cobra (13" rotors with 2 x 1.5" pistons). Rear:96 Thunderbird calipers (1 x 1.77" piston) on 96 Cobra rear rotors 11.65" using Tbird to Cobra caliper adapter brackets. I'm not on the road yet so not sure how the brakes will perform. But from what I have read and I have talked to a few people. They tell me this should be a good setup?
