Carroll Shelby and Ford created a running prototype Cobra in 2004, using many GT40 bits.
Ford disabled the prototype and sold it to raise funds(?) but what can be done, can be undone.
Comparison with a 427 Cobra is an interesting testimony to development.

Interesting article. When I saw it sold for 2.6 million it got me wondering what Chris Theodore paid for it when Ford auctioned it off. Looks like he paid $825k in 2017. Not a bad investment! https://journal.classiccars.com/2017/11/10/ford-shelby-cobra-charity-sale/

I saw that auction price too and wondered, 4 years to increase by almost $1.8 million... Not bad at all.
