Jeff Kleiner has done it again as he sent me these pictures on Christmas morning. What a great gift.

I don’t about you but I’ve had a bit of anxiety about my color choice over the years. My car is the first Mk IV to leave FFR back in March 2010 and all the time while building I’ve gone from one color to another. At the beginning it was Silver, then British Racing Green, then a Red, then for several years it was Guardsmen Blue. More recently I saw a car built by Ron Everett on the FFR site that was painted a Mazda Red with Silver stripes. It has been my computers back ground for about three years now. And then I saw Dave Smith’s Red car, the prototype for the Mk IV and I liked it too. And then I saw Carl Emery’s car which was painted by Jeff and fell in love with it. So, while Jeff was working on my car, he sent me some red and silver samples, one of which was Carl’s Red. All this time, I’ve been taking pictures of Red cars and thinking and thinking about my color combinations. While I liked Carl’s I started to evolve to a lighter Red. I went from Carl’s, a Porsche Carmine Red to a Nissan Plasma Red to finally this BMW/Mini Chili Red with Audi Florett Silver. The final evolution came down to the Chili Red when I did some work on a friends ’59 MGA which was painted Chili Red. I had a chance to hold all the samples up against the Chili Red so that’s essentially how it happened. My daily driver is an Audi Q7 painted that Florett Silver.

Beautiful color combo. Congrats on reaching the finish line.

addendum:
just read your post again and realized you started this in 2010, not 2020. wow! you must be so ecstatic to have the car at body/paint. Your perserverance is enviable. I've gone through several color choices in my head, but it's always been blue. Now the newest challenge is deciding stripes, no stripes or ghost stripes.

I call it analysis paralysis. I just have to make a choice and stick with it.

As always, excellent work by Jeff! The color combo looks killer! And I'm not a fan of red, but damn, I'd take that all day long! Hmmm. Now you got me thinking..... Maybe I'll go with green with silver stripes like this and not the white? Anyway, enjoy all the looks you will surely get, George! She's a stunner and if I'm placing bets, there's a smile on your face that will not be going away for a long time, if ever? Hell, I'm smiling for you! :)

Congrats. Love the colors. I also like the black outline on the stripes. I bet that was an easy decision for you as well.

How many times did I say that? So many I can't remember.

Thanks to everyone for the comments.

When I was doing George’s car it was like the famous Yogi Berra quote: “like déjà vu all over again.”
