Kind of a little known fact but 3 weeks ago I slipped on the ice/wet snow and broke my femur.
While there is never a good time for an injury like this the goal of getting home for Christmas was a huge motivator in my recovery process. I'm happy to say that I made it home on Tuesday!
This experience has given me the opportunity to reflect on what's important for the holidays and given the turmoil of the day I'd like to share my thoughts with you all:
Good health, the love and company of family and friends, enough to eat and drink, and a warm place to be are all we really need. The rest is just window dressing.
Best Christmas wishes to all those who love these amazing vehicles!

Earl,
I'll never complain about wearing shorts at Christmas time again.
Mend quickly and have a Merry Christmas!
Happy Healing!

Steve,
The worst thing about my hospital stay was having nothing to work on. I'm pretty sure that's something that everybody here can relate to.
Glad to home and able to get my hands dirty once again.
As soon as I can bear to stand for any length of time I'm going to ask my boys to lift my freshly rebuilt AOD transmission up onto the bench so I can fit some parts that I have onto it; AN line adapters, speedo block off cover, new neutral safety switch, and a deep alloy pan.
Always moving forward!

Earl-
Pleased that you are home and on the mend! I hope it heals quickly, and it is squarely in your rearview before you know it.
All the best this Christmas, and thanks for the perspective!
Regards,
Steve

Yes by all accounts I'm doing great. While there's never a good time to get hurt like this the timing in terms of working hard on my rehab in order to make it home for Christmas was impeccable. I'm using a walker to get around for now but expect to be ditching for a cane
real soon. Pain is well managed with just Tylenol, I have a prescription for dialoted that I haven't touched since coming home. My expectation is for a full recovery; 4-6 weeks to heal, 6 months to rehabilitate and a year to forget. All in all feeling very blessed.
