I'm doing a bunch of winter projects on my car (Mark II) this winter.

One is to *finally* clearance the stock lower A-arms because my turning radius on my 15" wheels is REALLY bad.
I have lived with it, but now I'm going to address it.

As I understand it, I need to grind off some metal, where the wheel contacts it.
My question is how much can I safely grind off?

Pictures or a video would be GREAT!! (I'm a visual learner)
I have been searching for some time, with NO LUCK. (So I'm probably not searching with the correct key words)

Thanks!!
Mike

I hit mine with an angle grinder years ago. No more rubbing and it doesn't appear to have affected the strength of the control arms.
Thanks for the reminder that I need to do a little cleanup on the undercarriage this winter.

Another option is bang the crap out of it w/ a sledge. You get clearance w/o removing any metal.

I did it with a torch to heat the area and an adjustable wrench to bend it out of the way.
