OK following numerous folks advise and starting my build with pre-fitting and drilling all the aluminum panels. Once I have done this I plan to send out the Engine compartment panels for powder coat. I then was thinking of using Lizard skin on both sides of the drivers/passenger compartment and trunk area panels before installation for both protection/sound deadening/and heat insulation.

Is the Lizard skin being applied before the panels are installed going to cause problems with fitment.... is it to thick to apply before hand? Is this just a bad idea? Alternative? Looking for the forums words of wisdom!

Thanks

There are multiple threads were people have applied it. Edward B has done it and is generally the gold standard on most aspects of the builds. He and others have done it with the panels installed.

I powder coated mine. Here's my passenger footbox in progress and completed.

You use it on the inside after permanent installation. Part of it’s benefit is filling small gaps at panel intersections. If you applied it to both sides prior to installation it would cause major issues with fit.

Keep in mind that Lizard Skin will not adhere to silicone seam sealers, so if its applied after assembly, clean up any excess silicone at the seams beforehand. There are other adhesives that can be used without issues.

besides the panels, is it good/wise to lizard skin the interior of the fiberglass shell (doors, roof, columns, etc)
