View Full Version : Stock Mustang Brake Proportioning Block - Use It or Not?

FF Tech Guys,

I'm running the stock brake setup from my 2001 GT donor (stock mc including the proportioning block, stock 11" front and 10 1/2" rear rotors, and stock calipers) but without the ABS. My tires are 245/45 and 315/35 Kuhmo Ecsta XS.

I use my car as a daily driver and cruiser. I don't track the car currently, but may do some occasional auto-x someday. Under hard braking, I have noticed that front tires will lock up. I'd like to get better braking performance from my setup. Should I remove the proportioning block to get better brake balance (more rear braking)?

Thanks
David

Do not use it.

The proportioning block should only be used if you have rear drum brakes. If you are running disc brakes all around you do not run the mustang distribution block. Run the rear line straight off of the master.
