Been working on wiring for the MKIV / Coyote 2 gen. My father-in-law is suggesting to run red positive to the 230A fuse and then to the starter. Then a smaller gauge wire from starter direct to the fuse box. Does that sound legit?

What is the usual setup for the positive lead. Any tips on wiring? I hate this part of the build :)

thats how i do it. large red cable from battery to starter. Then a smaller gauge wire up to a master fuse. Then everything gets distributed from there. No fuse between the battery and starter. I also always mount the battery up front using the Breeze battery mount.

Like Mike says, no fuse between battery and starter.

Ditto on Mike and rich's comments, I also run a ground right to the starter ear and then run a ground from the engine to the frame.

Really helps if running a motor with high cranking amps (hot and high compression).

The only thing I don't like about that is it gets busy and awkward w/ more wires at the starter. One more to feed a fuse box is OK but resist the temptation to add more later.

Look at PAULB wiring for the Coyote, he has a great write up that I followed and works great for my Coyote Gen 3.

Thanks, looks like I got it all sorted. Started up the car for the first time today.
