So my coupe production date is Dec. 18. Getting close. I've been busy with the drive train.
I secured a 5.0 L Ford engine from a 1995 Ford F150 languishing in a junkyard for $500.

Spent some time tearing it down and seeing what I had.

Took the block to my new friends at Enginetech Machine in Santa Maria, California. They cleaned and magnafluxed the block. They bored it out 0.030 over, notched the cylinders for a stroker, leveled the decks and installed cam bearings. They balanced my new crank, rods, pistons, flywheel, clutch and harmonic balancer. Meet my future 347!

Masked and painted:

Crank and camshaft fitted:
157966
Rotating assembly, baby!
157967
Timing cover and water pump next. I have AFR 185 cc heads waiting, and a new high volume oil pump and new oil pan.
Planning to register in CA as a 1965. I'll need to run a PCV system to get it registered, so the engine will have a Holley 4160 750 CFM carb on an Edelbrock Performer intake.
Once that's all done, I'll put this intake on her:
157968
I've got a Tremec TKX waiting and a Mustang 8.8 rear end with a 3.27 ring gear.
I'm getting excited, but no new info from Factory Five. Just the completion date of Dec. 18.
I'll post more pictures as the engine comes together.

I'd say that's a great start to everything! Looking forward to updates and the build process!

Rebuilt block looks great. I've done the same thing a couple times including with AFR 185 heads and they were good solid runners. Two things I'd suggest you look into: Lots of opinions about a high volume oil pump. Unless there's a specific reason you chose that, consider a regular volume. I used Melling blueprinted standard pumps. I'd also take a look at that vacuum secondary carb. I'm not the only one that never got one to run right on these light, manual shift cars. I'd highly recommend looking at a double pumper. Had great luck with QuickFuel.

Looking good!
Factory Five is still pretty good at hitting their dates. I'll bet you'll hear from them this week for final order and payment.
And btw, it sounds like they're now using new molds so hopefully you'll get one of the improved bodies.

Agree with this 100%. I would add Trick Flow heads are also a good option.

It is obvious to me my hood came out of a new mold. The body appears to be out of an older mold. Parting lines and gel coat quality is a dead give away.

Probably the case for me too as the hood looks pretty good.
Let us know what you end up with Drew. Good Luck!

Good word. Just had access to a new high volume pump, but haven't installed. My crank clearances are stock and brand new bearings. Too much pressure? Didn't know if I would end up with a remote filter or possibly an oil cooler. This engine will be north or 400 HP, and it's not improbable that it will see a track at some point.
My intention for that carb is temporary use. It was cheap, and it is just to get me up and running. I have the Weber 44 IDFs ready for later.

With stock bearings and clearances, most would recommend a standard volume pump. I'd avoid a remote filter if possible. For my SBF builds, with regular headers (not J-pipes), the stock oil filter location on the block fit just fine. Never had a cooling issue with mine, so no oil coolers either. But I didn't have them on the track.
Webers!
