I just finished listening to (in this case, I strongly recommend the audio-book version - great narrator!) a book called "Blacktop Wasteland" by S. A. Cosby. The writer is a self-proclaimed gear head and it shows in the book. Memorable descriptions of muscle cars from days past and vivid descriptions of driving them. All this mixed into a crime thriller classified as "Southern Noir". The characters are all strongly drawn and believable, with enough back story to make them all familiar. These are the guys I grew up with, or maybe it was their fathers? In any case, I loved the book and can't wait for the next one: "Razorblade Tears" (I'm on the waiting list from my local library.)
