Unfortnately impossible to read the part.no. on the elephant ears to the front. Does anyone know which one are left and right of them?

Peter,

I just checked mine today (Mark4) and there is a small tab on each of them which goes to the bottom of the fender between the wheel well and the side-pipe cut out. Position them that way and you should be fine

Peter, like Paul said, those tabs should face forward and will get a button head or rivet through them and into the body in the lower corner of the fender. Also, some people have had more lunch putting them on fold to fold instead of tab to tab.

ugh, I think I just mounted mine backwards...

so it's supposed to be tab facing front - correct?

yes, backwards. It's easier to get the body on without the elephant ears on.

you'd be surprised!

the 'manual' doesn't really say which way they face... since i'm working without my body, and in 'free air' without a reference - it can be deceiving :(

Toadster, I'm looking for a rock guard like whats in front of your radiator. Did you make that one or was it made.

I'd wager that's because the panel was pushed flat from shipping. My panels didn't fit until I re-introduced more bend in the main crease of the ear.

I know you've got the concept now, but here's a pic I found that shows the tab orientation, from when I had the body off for a rehab:

Here's one of my favorite pics of my car. If you look at the lower trailing edge of the front wheel well amongst the blackness you will see the single rivet holding the ear to the body. I've taken a sharpie to it since then for camouflage.
