I love the comfort and looks of my low backs but I just can’t seem to feel comfortable with the safety of them. What considerations for high backs are there? I’d like to butt test them but I don’t know where or how to do that, so? I know the very racy fixed back ones where your butt is pinched into a hole are the way true race seats are but I’m nervous that they will lack some comfort that a tilt back seat would offer, even if I never use the tilt aspect.

EdwardB used Corbeau Sportline Evolution X 64901FBS (see his build thread) but, I do not believe they are tilt back. I deleted seats from my order and will be outsourcing highback seats. Not sure what kind yet, but I believe Paul is happy with his Corbeaus.

Correct. We're happy with the seats we installed in our Gen 3 Coupe. Chris is right. This particular model seat does not tilt back. But it's a moot point in our experience. I have them on the Corbeau sliders, but they're as far back as they'll go and it's the right location for us. Neither of us are real tall (5-10 and 5-5) so that's fine. We rarely if ever use the sliders. I knew when I mocked them up I was giving up a couple inches of rear movement. That's just how they fit. They hit against the corner of the cockpit before the back wall. Others who are taller or who want more rear movement may not want these particular seats. It's not an easy topic. These are one of the smaller ones I found after a lot of looking. Here are a couple posts from my build thread. In both cases, scroll down because seats aren't the only topic in the post. The finished interior with the seats is at the end of the build thread. There is a TOC as I know it's a long thread.

Mock-up and why we picked those seats in this post: https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?26630-Edwardb%92s-Gen-3-Type-65-Coyote-Coupe-59-Build-Complete-and-Graduated&p=309365&viewfull=1#post309365

I am almost of the mind of using low back seats and having a headrest made to attach to the roll bar.

I have the Kirkey high backs from FFR. They are mounted on 1 inch blocks to lift them up. I used the Kirkey side and back mounts so the seats are bolted in but tilted back a little, they are comfortable for 2 -3 hours at a time. But they can be a tight fit for larger people and the side bolsters do limit space for getting into the car, tall is ok but it is tight for large guys. I am 5-10 180 lbs and my son who is 6-3 fit no problem (he is thin) we both have long legs and the seats are mounted as far back as possible. Getting in and out of these cars is something you will learn but I know my larger friends will never get into it.

We went with the Sparco evo QRT L seats and plan on using the sliders too. Things look tight at the moment. Hope they fit once we're done

I should have mentioned my size and shape, I’m 6’5” and 165lb so….. yeah. I don’t think I can afford to give up any rearward butt location. I had not considered that as part of the tilt or no tilt equation, but maybe I should. I like the custom head bolster idea maybe I’ll look into that because I really do like the factory seats.

I sacrificed leg room in my MK4 because of rear speakers and I'm building my Daytona centered around comfort. At 6-1, I do not fit entirely comfortable in my roadster. After a bunch of back surgeries, I really want a comfortable seating position. I hope that Paul's research and seat choice will work for my heighth in the coupe (I value and appreciate Paul's capacity to document his work). The Corbeau looks comfortable and I hope it doesn't eat up to much leg room. I'll also look at Mark's choice with the Sparco EVO QRT L seats.
