I just have to post this experience. As you might imagine, there are not a whole lot of these cars in Norway, so spotting one in the "wild" "never" happens. I'm on vacation in FL at the moment, and driving home from the beach on Sanibel yesterday, I spotted a silver Cobra at some distance. Not sure if it was an original or a replica, doesn't really matter. I got close enough to hear the rumble as it drove away. That brief encounter really made the hairs my neck rise and my spine tingle. The presence these cars have in the traffic Is something else. It made me think of how lucky I am to have one of these sitting in my garage for me to drive around whenever I want in the not too distant future. Leaving for home in a few days with the suitcase full of parts from the usual suspects, Russ, Bob, Mark, FFR, ********** etc, can't wait to get back on the build.

These cars are totally sexy! They draw attention everywhere they go with people who know and love these cars and surprisingly, people who don't know what they are. I pulled into Burger King the other day and a 17 year old girl outside on break, started taking pics with her phone and when I walked up to the door she started asking me about the car. I asked her if she knew what it was and she said no. So I asked her if she heard of Carol Shelby and she said no again. So I stopped asking, and she wanted me to take a picture of her standing next to the car, so that made her day. She just thought the car was really cool. I am always surprised with the amount of people who don't know what these cars are but are fascinated by their looks. I guess I think everyone should know what these cars are. How could they not!!! LOL

Thanks for the offer, but probably wouldn't want to impose. Already pressed my luck by showing up unannounced at Henry Renauds shop.

I hear ya! Was getting gas on a shake down run and a guy came up to me and said " It is truly beautiful." I responded "Thank you! But it needs paint and body work at this point." And he responded " Paint...bodywork....Does not matter..... It is beautiful!!!!" That made my day :)

I first met Henry in 2017. Since then, I’ve had the good fortune of getting to know him as a good friend. So while Henry is more than capable of speaking for himself, I can say with 100% certainty, you in no way imposed upon him with your visit. We like to say, it’s not really about the cars, it’s about the people and Henry is one of countless examples of that. I am still looking at options to meet up with you before you head home. I’ll PM you.

Yesterday I had an eye doctor appointment. I took the cobra. As I got to my car to leave I met a real nice guy named Tom in his DD. He wanted me to know about a couple of recurring get together‘s in the area and then said he had a FF Cobra as well. (John) While talking with him, he did mention a silver cobra in the Cape Coral area. As we talked another gentleman walked up. He as well had a Factory Five Cobra! They both turned an unpleasant morning at the eye doctor into a good day.

We moved to Cape Coral about 3 months ago and have been out several times and not seen any other Cobras.
What are some of the regular get togethers in the area?
Thanks

Oystein, pleasure meeting you as well and no issue showing up unannounced. I get at least 4 - 5 visitors a week. It’s all about the people as Mark says above. These cars are the vehicles that bring like minded people together!
Mark, thanks for the kudos!
Steve, check out the Deep South Cobra Club. They have many events schedules throughout the year. There is an event coming up at Sebring where you’re able to drive the track …parade laps….

Yup, one of the deciding factors for going with FFR was the impression that the community around these cars was great, and I was not mistaken. It'd be great if we could meet up before I leave, but if not, I'll be back. Generally over here every November and April.

My Dermatologist and I discussed my build when I first got the car. ( He's a 63 splitwindow Corvette guy) so I told him I'll bring it next time I see you. Which I did and he came out and looked at it and dragged all the girls from the office to see it. It's kind of amazing how much attention these cars will draw.

Henry is definitely one of the good guys. Always happy to have people stop by his garage and greets with a smile. I would not have gotten to this point with my car, or eventually get it finished without him.
Oylstein, if you were there in the past 2 weeks you would have seen my buggy. It would be a mkIV almost complete to gelcoat.

Yup, I saw your car. I see you got the kit a year after me, you're moving quite faster than I am.

I live on an island, that averages 50 miles in width and approx. 285 miles long. As small as it, is there is a huge number of car nuts living on it. Mostly retirees living the dream. There is probably about 10-12 Cobra roadsters, of varying makes, but still rare enough that they grab a lot of attention.

Ya lol. I was at the bank last week opening a new account and the entire bank staff, tellers, managers, etc all came outside to check out mine. One of the tellers looked at the manager and asked, "did anybody stay inside to watch the bank?" oooops.. NOPE! Manager pointing at my car and said, "well that's prolly worth more then anything inside the bank... so no worries."
