Does anyone make them for the 289. I tried using PlastiDip and it was a complete failure.
Thanks
Bill
Bill, until you get your spats figured out this is what I ended up doing and still have them on the car. 2k miles now and zero damage to my spats. I picked them up on Amazon, universal then added a few sheetmetal screws to hold them on. They are not really noticeable on the car.

I've seen over the years where a few fellows have used the 3-M clear vinyl cling type, also a similar, self-adhesive Di-Noc carbon fiber spat. You cut the pattern required.
I've never heard a complaint.

I think I heard that verycoolparts.com had them for the MK4. Not sure how much you’d need to trim or shape them

I’ve tried adhesive back vinyl. Failed because of the curves
I’ve tried PlastiDip. Failed because it stuck to the tape and came off
Now I’m going to try plain vinyl wrap. If that doesn’t work I’ll just say “**** it”

As I said, Wayne has aluminum ones but you might need to shape them a bit as they are for the MK4. Not sure if there’sa huge difference. I’m planning on using the universal mud flap that fman showed. This will prevent rocks from even getting to the rear fender

Big difference between the 427 style fenders and the 289 fenders. Won’t work
That’s not what I’m looking for. These are the spats

My suggestion was a temp solution until you get some spat protection that will work with your 289 to help prevent any damage. FWIW I was told not to put any PPF film on my car for at least 6 months after it was painted. Not sure where you are on the timeline but something to consider. I know you can buy PPF (3M) and cut it yourself and make your own template.

Ok. Got some poster-board and made a template (ver 1.0). Will transfer to a clean sheet with smooth cut lines. If that works will transfer to static cling satin black vinyl wrap

I purchased Orion 3d Black Carbon Fiber Vinyl from Amazon and make paper patter(s), until I was happy with the size/shape. Used the patter and cut the Vinyl. Self sticking. Can be removed and re-installed multiple times.

I used 3M paint protection film clear, for my spats. Has worked well and you have to be looking for it to see it.
