I want to take a moment and give thanks to all the great builders out here. The ideas, inspiration, and knowledge that is shared is just so valuable. I know I couldn't bring my dream to life without all the positive influence and guidance for that matter. There are so many great build threads to read and learn from. So, big THANKS to all of you!
And today, (Derald Rice) invited me over to talk everything cars. Derald has an absolute beautiful MK1 and my first one I've seen of the earlier one's built. Derald is such an awesome guy, so humble and knowledgeable too. His build is so clean and just screams the "Look At Me" feeling, and is so quintessential everything - COBRA! The webers, the fiberglass scoop, the single roll bar, and the silver paint with the Sebring stripe and so much more. Derald explained his entire plan and gave me incredible pointers for which, I'll have borrow and incorporate some of his ideas for sure. Thank You, Derald! I really appreciate you inviting me over and taking the many hours today, to listen and explain answers to my questions as I talked your ear off. I was in good company and so looking forward to our next planned meet-ups.
Also, I believe I did, but just in case I didn't, let me also say thanks to Dave (Papa) for meeting with me quite sometime a while back. Dave let me checkout his build and it's more beautiful in person, as is Dave! You were so friendly, and you also took much time out of your day to give me solid advice and answered all my questions and I really do appreciate your candid honesty.
Like Dave and Derald both, I'm not posting pics of their cars. I think once you see them up close, a pic can only do so much and I will respectfully decline photo posts. Dave's, it can be found on his build thread and I'm sure everyone on this site has seen it? I mean, it does have the most views and that is saying a lot!
As for Derald, he didn't do a build thread and I respect that. I almost didn't get one started either, but I'm glad that I finally have. Dave's build was selected as a POM Winner and rightfully so. It's such a fantastic build and the paint was killer too, Jeff K! Derald on the other hand, he painted his own car and also did an absolute fantastic job. His car is so genuine with many of his choices. And you can't go wrong showing off a completely aluminum trunk - STUNNING! Derald, your car is POM material and I'm sure would be chosen if submitted. You got my vote! Hmmm... maybe I can convince you to submit an entry? That way --> this way --> we can all see the gorgeous true gem you built.
Anyway, I can't wait for other gatherings, and to meet with other builders and enthusiasts in the future. I know there are quite a few here in Colorado. So, I hope to cross paths with all of you, perhaps one day in the future...
Honestly and Sincerely said - "A big THANKS to ALL of YOU!"
