Took my 18 inch FFR Halibrand wheels to get my tires mounted and the inside of the rim where the valve stem inserts is recessed making a standard rubber valve stem not ideal. Are there special valve stems required for these 18 inch wheels?

Several years ago I received 18" wheels with my 20th Anniversary Roadster. They were from the new (at the time) tooling and what they're still selling today. So should be what you have. When I took the rims to get tires mounted, the tire store had an issue getting either standard or bolt-in stems to fit. Jay at FF (no longer there...) knew exactly what valve stem to use. Standard TR413 rubber pull-through. They were able to complete the installation.

The tire shop I used had trouble with them too. The "pro" just lubed them up and pulled them in. They used the stems that came with the wheels

Same issue here. I asked for ridged chrome stems and they simply wouldn't work. The shop used pull-through rubber stems with chrome sleeves and no problem with them in over 5,000 miles.

Thanks everyone for the input. I will pass this along to the shop mounting my tires!
