All,

After 4 years of lurking, thinking and planning, I’ve finally placed my order.

289 Complete Kit

Powder coating
Hydraulic clutch
Body cut outs
Suitcase bumps
Low back vintage seats
Power steering
Pin drive front suspension
Narrowed 3 link rear
FIA pin drive wheels
Wiper kit
Floormats
Assembled side louvers
Center dash support
Double adjustable Konis

Also did a gauge delete (getting Smiths mechanical appearing), as well as a side pipe delete (thinking about undercar exhaust)
Order went in October 14th, Completion date is June 4th. That dovetails nicely with my March 31st retirement date..

I’ll be doing an in-person pickup. Plan is a 347 stroker with Webers, TKX, Goodyear billboards. It won’t be period correct, but hopefully period respectful...

I know how to turn a wrench, but I’ve never done electrical, or taken on a project of this size. I did go to Build School in November 2019, which was a huge help. Thanks to all those on here who listened to my dumb questions..

Stay tuned-should be quite an adventure!

Ken

Congrats, It sounds like a nicely thought out build. If I was building one today it would be a 289, they are sweet looking cars!

Ken-

Congratulations on your order -- and your impending retirement! That's two pretty big events.

The 289 is a beautiful car, and I love the way you phrased your plan; "It won’t be period correct, but hopefully period respectful..." I think that is perfect!

Good luck with your build, and I look forward to following along with you. Enjoy the next few months of anticipation -- it's totally worth it!

All the best.

Regards,

Steve

Good luck with your build!

If you need a body buck, you are welcome to mine (just pick it up). It is on wheels and has shelves. I just finished my build and brought it to Metal-Morphous in North Haven for paint. It really is not a bad drive from CT to NJ, I am just off the Garden State PKY. If you are interested, please send a PM.

Congrats, looks like you’re planning a well thought out build, including the Webers!

Hope you’re saving some of the retirement fund for the annual property tax, depending on which town you live in CT. See my autosig.
