I was attempting to clamp up my dash so that I could mock up the gauge layout and something doesn't seem right. I got a blank dash so I could do a 427 S/C style layout of the gauges. The issue that I think I am having is that I believe that the steering wheel hole in the dash may be cut a little off. If I am reading the manual correctly, it looks like the dash gets centered on the hoop and is 3/16" above the hoop at the 2 ends. When I do that, the steering wheel hole is significantly off from the center of where the steering shaft bearing bolts to the bracket on the frame. Is this a common issue? Do I just side the dash over? Any insight would be appreciated. Pics attached. Thanks.

Most of us have the dash ends 3/16" below the hoop frame, not above it. This keeps the body from resting on the top of the dash.

Ok, perhaps I am misreading the manual. This is what i was basing my information on:

My manual was the same. I have the precut dash and it needs to sit lower to keep the speedo from hitting the underside of the hoop frame. You might have more flexibility since you're cutting your own gauge holes.

Good to know. Thanks!
