View Full Version : Seat track suggestions:

I have some other seats I picked up and the mounting hole is 13', the seat track from Factory five is about 11'.
In looking for some other seat tracks, it looks like this is a fairly standard bolt spacing, with the tracks overall measuring 13' and bolt pattern at 11'.
The other thing is I am missing a seat track from F5. The box labeled seat track only had one pair in it, so when I did my initial inventory, I missed that I was missing one, thinking they were both in there.
Since I need another seat track anyway, are there any suggestions of one you know will fit? Thank you in advance!

F5 only has a driver's side seat track.

There really isn't reason for a passenger side adjuster

On the passenger side, do I just straight bolt the seat into the frame?

I'm thinking of adding seat tracks to my build. I would do the passenger side just so that I could adjust it to be in the same position as the drivers side. If they were in two different positions that would drive me nuts.

I have a FFR seat track I am not using. If anyone is interested PM me.

I have sliders on both the DS and PS. The DS I use for driving adjustments (usually on longer drives), and both for cleaning and getting behind the seat to retrieve whatever manages to work it's way back there. Amazing how cramped it is back there.
Unlike others, I installed mine parallel to the 4" frame members. (some builders put them parallel to the trans tunnel). For me, the seats clear the body, door, and trans tunnel, in the fully forward and fully rearward position, just fine. Maybe I got lucky because others have said they cannot get the seats to slide without interference from either the body, door or trans tunnel. I did spend days measuring and figuring out all the geometry of the seats and sliders. I'm very happy with the sliders and the installation.
They do add roughly 3/4" to 1" of height. That's perfect for my 5'8" size.

On the topic of sliders and seat height.. Has anyone here installed both the Breeze seat bases and seat sliders? I've heard that this combo is too tall with the FFR seats but I'm installing some Ultrashield seats (similar to Kirkeys) that seem to be lower than the FFR seats so I'm wondering if that combo would work with this type of seat.

A little advise, mount your doors and door latches before drilling and bolting your seats in.

Anyone with OCD should never mix different types of seat mountings, your head will explode

Hi John,
I bought the Breeze mounts but didn't use them and sold them on the forum. I bought Sparco sliders about $65 each I think which were the lowest I could find at the time, add 3/4" to the height. There is really no reason to put the Breeze mount under them and they do add another 1/2" of height. With the Kirkey seats, the rear of the aluminum shell is mounted directly to the sliders with some spherical washers, the front has some Nylon blocks about 3" tall to add some rake to the seat. Seats are plenty low even with this combination, don't look anywhere close to the upper windshield frame now, I'm 6'1" tall.
It is a mind twister figuring out how to mount these things, I did several layouts and then used a sharpie to transfer the pattern to the floor, before drilling and tapping. I have instructions written up for the Mark 3.1 but I think the apply to the Mark 4 also. I'll Email to you, and volunteer to help you lay them out if you decide to go this way.
HTH,
Dave

Hey Dave,
Thank you very much! Yes, I'll take you up on the offer to help when I get to that point. I bought Breeze mounts for the additional rake, but using spacers on the front of the seats will accomplish the same thing. I actually wanted a bit more rake than what the Breeze mounts offer, so that would work out well. I'll probably just set the seats in the car loosely until the body is on and fitted to make sure they're positioned properly.
Thanks,
John
