I have the Speedhut Classic gauge set in my MkIV on a Ron Francis loom - I have driven just under 2500miles and yesterday the voltmeter stopped registering. I have done a few checks and it is looking like the gauge is faulty, but just wondering if anybody has had a similar issue and if I am missing something?
When I turn the key all of the gauges move....including the voltmeter where the needle briefly jumps off 0 and then returns. The other gauges are all working fine and read as expected, but the Voltmeter remains on 0 when the engine is running. All of the accesory items such as wipers work, the gauges all light up so the light circuit is fine, I have pulled the gauge fuse and they all stop working as you would expect............fuse back in all works except for the voltmeter. As I understand it the lighting is on a seperate power feed, and the powerfeed to all the gauges is connected so it should be all or nothing.........I figure that the moment I turn the key the voltmeter should be indicating the battery charge regardless of whether the engine is running or not. Everything worked fine until yesterday.

My Speedhut Oil Pressure Sensor has also failed a while ago, so slightly miffed at this happening so early on.

Any ideas are welcome

cheers, Brett.

G'day Brett,

did you check that the gauge is getting 12 volts to the sense wire?

Cheers,

Nigel

Speedhut is so responsive and easy to deal with. I had an issue with my Speedo, it was fixed the day Speedhut received it.

G'day Brett,

Hi Nigel,
Yes it is getting power. I removed the gauge from the dash and connected it to a 9V battery and it did the same as when I turn the key.......jumps off zero to 1V then back to zero where it stays.........I think it is toast.
cheers
Brett.

I had the same problem with my volt gauge, called Speedhut and they said the stepper motor in the gauge was bad. sent it back and a new one came right back. The new one has been good so far.
