IS it possible to install the headliner correctly without flipping the body ?

I sprayed UPOL Raptor on my Coupe headliner and called it done. So can't be 100% knowledgeable to answer your question. Do you mean with the body on or off? If off, not a big deal to roll it over. Did that a bunch of times during my build including when I sprayed the Raptor. If the body is on, the roll cage is pretty tight against the ceiling. Might be possible but it's going to be a bit challenging IMO.

I installed mine with the body off and flipped over. somewhat similar to edwardb. I used Lizard Skin then put a headliner material in with 3m spray. All this done before body and paint, so not sure how it will look after the shop is done with it. Really didn't want to flip over a freshly painted body. Doug

I just installed mine in my Daytona coupe sitting right side up.....Did it all by myself....no help. First i installed a sheet of foil backed insulation i bought on Ebay.....laid the headliner on top of the car and did an cut it to an oversize fit....marked the centerline on the inside of the top, and the centerline of the headliner...sprayed a 6 inch wide 3M 77 adhesive on the inside of the roof....clamped it to the rear of the roof with some spring clamps...and worked from back to front down the center. put a couple of spring clamps on the front....let it dry for a few minutes , and then worked out from the center to the sides about 6 inches at a time gluing it on....no wrinkles....worked great

We have done a number of coupes and have the luxury of working in a tall warehouse space. I realize this is not available to most, but we find it most productive to suspend the body vertically(nose down) and apply the headliner standing up working with good light and ergonomics. If you have access to a barn or other high space it might be worth consideration.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but do you feel the lizard skin helped with noise reduction? I’m planning my build, and would like to make the interior feel a little less raw.

Hi,

I installed mine with the body on the car. If you can install it with the body off and flipped upside down it should be easier, but it's still possible with the body on the car.

Here's my write-up on my install:

Thanks.

Hey Tooth. Cant say for sure yet, my car is not up and running yet. but Lizard Skin has been used by many people with positive results. For me it was lizard skin on most of the roof, then a sections of sticky foil (very thin) to reduce the head as well with the headliner going on last. Its like the Red Hot Sause that Eli Manning does. "I put that stuff on everything". figure it should go one all around the cabin area as well a bunch of insulation. I also used a bunch of U-Pol Raptor on everything else. Doug

I've done both. First time with tub upside down which was before paint. Much easier but used the wrong glue so head liner started coming down. Redid it with finished car which was much harder but started from the center and wroked to the outside both ways. Did it in two pieces then covered the center with an overhead console.
Make sure you use high heat glue.

What adhesive have people used with good success? I used the 3M 90 on my dash vinyl and have had some already coming off after only a few months. Probably user error but looking at the headliner install soon and would like to know if there is a better product.
