So I am mocking up my wipers and I attached my arms to the post which I now realize maybe I didn't want to do but at the same time I want to make sure everyting works before paint. I don't want to work around expensive finish work I would rather just re assemble it after I know it works. I will need to break all this down for paint, so that brings me here.

How do folks separate the wiper arms from the gear box? I don't want to scratch them if I can avoid it.

Thank you

Just reacquainted myself with this. There is a tab on the the arm side of the socket down near the splined post. Push that away from the post and judiciously manipulate the base of the arm back and fourth and up all while holding the tab. It’s made a little difficult becuase of the spring load, but it gets easier with practice.

There is a little "L" shaped spring tab on the arm that locks into place under the splined shaft. Push that outward so that it clears the splined part and they pull upward.

EDIT: Yeah, what Bradley said :)
