I have a type 65 that I didn't start ....( and don't have the build manual ) .... in the trunk there are two removable covers ... the large on is for the battery .... the small one ( I think ) is for the gas gauge sender unit..... there are two elec. connections and five hold down NUTS .... If I reomove the nuts will the sender come out - leaving the bolts attached to the inside of the Tank ... /// ... Thanks in advance ..... Mike

Sounds like you might have an aftermarket tank. Take the nuts off and see what happens

Thanks Mike, I've seen other fuel cells / tanks and they all had bolts that screwed into a ring that was part of the tank. I've not seen with nuts to hold the device to the tank ..... Do you remember what the FFR tank for a Gen I car was.... Mike

The standard kit supplied tank for all generation Coupes is the same as the Roadster -- a Fox body Mustang style tank. There are no nuts and bolts for the sender or pump. Only the standard rings used on all those style tanks. The access panels are for the sender and pump (or pickup w/o pump if you're using a mechanical fuel pump at the engine). Yours is clearly something different than that. Sounds like a fuel cell? So most of us, me included, wouldn't be familiar with your setup. Can't speak to the battery location for the Gen 1 or Gen 2. For the Gen 3, Factory Five located it up front.
