View Full Version : How far forward can I mount a footbox blower?

My power brake setup (did I mention I hate this thing?) always gets in the way

so I think I can make a semi straight run with the blower to the footbox by mounting it further up the body - any conflicts here?

I am 99% sure that will be fine. I would mount a front tire and turn the steering full right to double check though.

The hose routing shown in the picture would likely put the hose right on top of the header. You'll need to either re-route the hose to give more clearance, insulate the hose, or both to keep the hose from melting and/or picking up a ton of heat.

Of course, if that's not the final routing, never mind. :D

I mounted mine all the way forward as pictured. Remember the hose has to go through the splash panel and should do that as high as possible to avoid tire rub at full lock and the header heat on the other side that John mentioned.

I mounted the blower at the top of the "arc" of ducting - just because it was easy to attach the bracket I made to the square tubing there.

Also, since the blower is close to the steering pivot axis, I don't have to worry about tire rub at full lock either direction. 11 years and no issues with it.

yeah, the hose was just dangling ;)

thanks for all the input guys! as long as I have wheel motion... should be ok.

given that I'd like to put the fender liners in later - any restrictions there?
